Why is my grill turning off by itself?
The grill has a built-in electrical safety circuit, and automatically shuts down in the case of an electrical issue. Unplug the grill and check to make sure that there is no damage to the heating element, controller, or plug. The grill will reset when plugged back in. If you continue to experience this issue, please contact Customer Support.
Why isn’t my grill turning on (blue light is not turning on)?
Verify that the knob is on and that the grill is plugged in. If the grill is already plugged in, then unplug the grill and plug it back in to restart. If that doesn’t work, verify that the circuit breaker or GFCI on the outlet has not tripped. If you are still experiencing this issue, then please call Consumer Support to further troubleshoot.
Why am I having difficulty maintaining high temperatures?
Lumin can reach temperatures of up to 600°F / 315°C. Utilizing the steam tray while grilling will affect the temperature registered at the thermometer; however, the temperature at the grate level will still be hot. While steaming or smoking, the thermometer will register lower temperatures than the actual grate temperature. Additionally, using an incorrect extension cord or one that is very long will impact heating performance.
Why am I having trouble searing?
Lumin can reach temperatures of up to 600°F / 315°C.
Tips for searing:
- Preheat on high for at least 15-20 mins.
- Grill at high heat for food such as steak, burgers, or chicken breasts. You only need lower temperature settings when cooking larger, thicker food, or when using the steam or smoke setting.
- The lid is designed to trap and radiate heat. So, keep the lid closed as much as possible while grilling.
Why is my circuit breaker tripping when I turn on the grill?
The grill draws about 10 amps and should be operated on a dedicated 15 amp circuit. If there is another product plugged into the same circuit, it may cause the circuit to exceed 15 amps, which would trip the circuit breaker. This includes any lights attached to the circuit, or other outlets that may be tied to the outlet.
What happens if I accidently spill water on the heating element/inside of the grill?
The grill is designed to be used outdoors, rain or shine, so there is no issue if water gets in the grill when in use, as long as it does not get submerged. Just make sure to check your grease tray to make sure it doesn’t overflow, and still has room to catch grease.
