The Sear Zone is a feature available on select Weber Spirit Grill models, designed to create an intense heat zone for quickly searing meat. Searing locks in juices, enhances flavour, and creates beautiful caramelised grill marks on the surface of your food.
Steps to Use the Sear Zone:
- Preheat the Grill:
- Open the lid and ignite all burners following the ignition instructions in the Owner’s Manual.
- Close the lid and preheat the grill with all burners set to the Start/High position for about 15 minutes. This ensures the grates are hot enough for searing.
- Activate the Sear Zone:
- Push the two adjacent burner control knobs in the sear zone and turn them anti-clockwise to the Sear position. These burners work together to create a high-temperature zone for searing.
- You can turn off or lower the heat on the remaining burners if you only need the sear zone.
- Sear Your Food:
- Place the meat directly over the sear zone.
- Close the lid to maintain high heat and prevent flare-ups.
- Sear each side of the meat for 1 to 4 minutes, depending on the type and thickness of the meat.
- Finish Cooking:
- After searing, move the meat to a moderate heat area (outside the sear zone) to finish cooking to your desired doneness.
Tips for Using the Sear Zone:
- Always cook with the lid closed to achieve maximum heat and avoid flare-ups.
- Experiment with searing times to find the perfect results for your taste and the type of meat you’re cooking.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature of the meat for perfect doneness.
- Clean the grates regularly to prevent sticking and ensure optimal searing.
The sear zone is ideal for grilling steaks, poultry cuts, fish, and chops, giving them a professional, restaurant-quality finish.
