A clear guide for safe, confident grilling:
To help you use your Weber Spirit grill safely and avoid common risks, this guide explains the essential steps every owner should follow. Each section highlights key safety points so you can cook confidently while protecting yourself, your home, and anyone nearby.
Read the Owner’s Manual
Before using your Weber Spirit grill, take the time to read the Owner’s Manual from start to finish.
Familiarise yourself with the DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION statements so you understand potential hazards and how to avoid them.
Use Outdoors Only
DANGER: Always operate your Weber Spirit grill outdoors in a well‑ventilated area.
Do not use your grill in a garage, shed, tent, breezeway, building, or under any overhead combustible structure. Good airflow is essential for safe gas grill operation.
Proper Installation
Make sure your grill is fully assembled exactly as shown in the Owner’s Manual.
WARNING: Do not modify the grill or try to convert it between LPG and natural gas. This is unsafe and voids the warranty.
Do not build your grill into a fixed outdoor kitchen or slide it into a built‑in housing. It must remain free‑standing.
Maintain Clearance from Combustible Materials
DANGER: Keep all combustible materials at least 61 cm (24 inches) away from the back and sides of the grill while it is operating.
Ensure the cooking area is free of flammable vapours and liquids, including petrol, alcohol, and cleaning solvents.
Inspect the Grill Regularly
Before each use, check the gas hose for cracks, abrasions, or cuts. Replace it immediately if damaged.
Look for debris or blockages in the burners, spider screens, and other components.
Perform a gas leak check every time the LPG cylinder is refilled or reinstalled.
Handle LPG Cylinders Safely
Use only LPG cylinders with a capacity between 3 kg and 13 kg.
Store and transport cylinders upright and securely.
Never use a cylinder with a damaged, dented, or rusty valve.
WARNING: Do not store a spare LPG cylinder under or near your grill.
Ignite the Grill Safely
Open the lid before ignition to prevent gas buildup.
Follow the step‑by‑step ignition instructions in the Owner’s Manual.
If the grill does not ignite within 4 seconds, turn the burner control knob off, wait 5 minutes, then try again.
Use Heat‑Resistant Gloves
WARNING: Many areas of the grill become very hot during use.
Use heat‑resistant barbecue mitts or gloves (EN 407 Contact Heat rating level 2 or higher) whenever handling hot components.
Never Leave the Grill Unattended
WARNING: Do not walk away from the grill during preheating or cooking.
Keep children and pets at a safe distance while the grill is operating.
Prevent Grease Fires
Clean the grease tray and catch pan regularly to avoid grease buildup.
DANGER: If a grease fire occurs, turn off all burners and keep the lid closed until the fire burns out naturally. Do not open the lid once the fire has started.
Avoid Alcohol and Drugs
WARNING: Never operate the grill while under the influence of alcohol, prescription medication that affects judgment, or illegal substances. Safe operation requires full attention.
Use Genuine Weber Parts
Replace worn or damaged components only with Weber‑authorised parts.
Using non‑genuine parts can compromise safety and void your warranty.
Follow Local Regulations
Make sure your grill setup complies with local rules regarding gas appliances, including requirements for regulators and hoses.
By following these safety guidelines each time you use your Weber Spirit grill, you can enjoy outdoor cooking with confidence while reducing the risk of injury, damage, or gas‑related hazards.
