Follow a few basic maintenance instructions to keep your grill looking and grilling better for years to come!
Meal-to-Meal Cleaning:
Cleaning your charcoal barbecue is quick and easy. For the best results, all you will need to get started is a grill brush.
Prior to each use, empty out any left-over ash and charcoal into the ash catcher. Any leftover ash may block the air vents and restrict the airflow for your next cooking session.
Next, light the grill and preheat the cooking grate with the lid on. Using the grill brush, scrape the cooking grates to remove the carbonised food and grease from the grate. Using the brush while the grill is hot prevents excessive wear on the brush's bristles.
Brush the grates again once you have finished grilling, close all dampers to extinguish the barbecue.
Remember to check grill brushes for loose bristles and excessive wear on a regular basis. Replace the brush if any loose bristles are found on cooking grates or on the brush. We recommend purchasing a new stainless steel grill brush at the beginning of every spring.
Thorough Cleaning:
As time goes by, you might find that your barbecue may need a more thorough clean. The frequency will depend entirely on your usage of the barbecue. At a minimum, we recommend cleaning your barbecue before and after each season.
Weber offers a selection of cleaning tools such as a microfiber cloth and a two-sided sponge to clean both your grates and exterior enamel. To clean and maintain the exterior, our Enamel Cleaner loosens any fat and food residue.
Use our Weber Enamel Cleaner to clean the exterior surfaces of your barbecue. Simply spray the cleaner onto the lid and bowl and leave to dissolve grease and burned-on debris for around 30 seconds. Use a Microfibre cloth to polish the surface of the enamel.
Next, clean your cooking grate using a grill brush and scrape any excess grease out of the bottom of the grill with a scraper.
Remember to check grill brushes for loose bristles and excessive wear on a regular basis. Replace the brush if any loose bristles are found on cooking grates or on the brush. We recommend purchasing a new stainless steel grill brush at the beginning of every spring.
